Universität Duisburg Essen

The Networked Embedded Systems (NES) group was founded in 2009 with the change in position of Prof. Pedro José Marrón, the head of the group, from the Universität Bonn to the Universität Duisburg-Essen. Scientists at NES have worked on research and development projects for government agencies, associations and industry.
Examples of European projects, where current members of NES have worked on, are the Embedded WiSeNts coordination action, AWARE and EMMA. The overall objective of Embedded WiSeNts was to formulate a roadmap for wireless sensor networks and cooperating embedded systems.

STIFTELSEN SINTEF is the largest multidisciplinary independent research organization in Scandinavia. Established 62 years ago, SINTEF has approximately 2100 scientific, technical and engineering staff. Activities include specific research and development for industry and longer-term research programmes for the government and the European Commission. SINTEF Information and Communication Technology is well known as the foremost applied research institute in Norway in the area of integrated electronics, and has a strong group that has specialised in microelectronics, wireless communication, Internet of Things, integrated sensors and intelligent systems.

GNKS Consult

GNKS Consult was founded in 2006 and conducts strategic and policy research and evaluation, building on excellence in understanding of the impact of the emerging Global Networked Knowledge Society. For its project work GNKS Consult brings together people who have built up experience and expertise in multi-disciplinary, high quality work, and understand that for any decision today, the impact for tomorrow needs to be considered.
GNKS has been involved in Future Internet studies and several RFID policy studies and ex ante assessments for DG Information Society. In addition, it has relevant study and policy assessment experience in the areas of information security, dependability of information infrastructures, data protection and privacy, Internet governance and pan-European public services.
